Why Blog?

"To be heard," and "to connect" are the two most popular answers. We at EntchevDotCom want to do both. This is why we launched EntchevDotCom -- The Blog, the latest addition to our website.

Sponsored by ENTCHEV GIS Architects

I have been blogging for several years, and as of late have been privileged to be a contributor to the All Points Blog -- the most popular GIS blog on the planet. And while I intend to continue to contribute to APB, I feel that its global reach does not make it a suitable forum for discussing local issues, like GIS in New Jersey for example.

This blog is about that -- GIS development in New Jersey and the region. I plan to share my thoughts and experiences -- good and bad. I welcome comments and suggestions. And I intend to open the forum to others who would like to share their thoughts as well.

I hope you will visit often, and I expect to see some of you as blog collaborators soon. --Atanas

    Atanas,
I agree with you - New Jerseyians should discuss what data is out there, especially within the state, and who we need to talk to to get the data we need. Free data especially is a wonderful gift, and I'm hoping that we end up with a wealth of data shared freely throughout the state

Sounds great, Atanas. It will be nice to discuss problems, solutions and things that can be improved with regards to GIS in NJ.

    Antanas,

I been thinking about setting up a blog for NJ GIS for some time. With family commitments it has been put on the back burner. I also look forward to reading and commenting in the future.

    Alan -
If you don't mind sharing with a contractor, I suspect I'll be interested in your data at some point. I'm planning on mainly working with nonprofits and I've got an environmental bent, so I'm sure the data you're talking about is something that at least some of my potential clients would be interested in - I'm always looking for new sources for free/cheap data to best serve those I hope will hire me! I'm hoping to be in business completely very soon, and then who knows when the clients will start showing up...

    Ron,
I'm certaintly up for disccussion on the upcoming elections- I'm very interested in the NGO position that is currently vacant. I am employed by Monmouth Conservation Foundation as well as starting my own business. I've been trying to figure out if there is anybody besides Janel who has the ability to nominate an NGO person.

      Alison,

I believe the nominator and nominee must be voting members of the forum (see bylaws). Doesn't this mean any NGO member in good standing can nominate another member of good standing (no self-nomintations)?

I look forward to seeing the nominees bios and hopefully what issues and priorities they feel are important.

Nominations will be accepted from September 22 to October 13th.
