Geospatial Forum: Experience gaps and differences in understandings of the meaning of the representative position

I've been thinking about the upcoming election results since I put my name in the pot, and I've been wondering what anybody else has thought about 1) the lack of compitition in many categories and 2) the differences in views of the candidates who aren't running unopposed.  In my particular position, I was the only candidate interested and qualified for the NGO position from last December(my first meeting was the results of the last election), until this May, when Janel took her new position with the Stony Brook Millstone Watershed.  She and I have expressed differing views on the purpose of the position, and on the reasons why there are not more nonprofits attending geospatial forum meetings.  I'm worried that just because I'm relatively new to GIS, I will not be elected.  I hope that others don't only care about experience, but about viewpoints and how the position would be used.  What are your views on 'time put in' as opposed to 'fresh ideas'?

    Alison-
Thank you for taking the time to invest in the Geospatial forum. Though it has been around for a few years, I believe the interest is beginning to shift. Our task forces and constituency groups make up the active participants. I am both from a NGO and education; I would support both. I am on more committees than I should be, but always find time for reviewing what interests me. Fresh ideas are great; we do need those who have the time to participate in a real-time P.O.A.
Keep participating and you'll find the support. - JL
