I am pleased to welcome Karen Schmelzkopf, Ph.D. as a guest blogger at The NJ GIS Blog.

Karen is an Associate Professor of Geography at the Department of History and Anthropology of Monmouth University. She was instrumental in establishing a GIS Certification Program at the University. Her teaching and research specializations are urban cultural geography, history of the American city with an emphasis on the Lower East Side of NYC, and the geography of tourism.
