Jack Dangermond on Mashups

This Jack Dangermond quote (paraphrased maybe?) comes to us courtesy of Sean McGinnis (blog) and his entry on Day 1 of the ESRI Homeland Security Conference. Says Jack:

Sponsored by ENTCHEV GIS Architects

"Mashups are service integration. The difference is Google and MS [Microsoft] share general/informal information, ESRI applications enable the publishing of professional authoratative [sic] content."

So, the difference between Google Earth, Microsoft Virtual Earth and ESRI's ArcGIS Explorer (AGX) is in the content they serve. To me this sounds like saying that WordPerfect is the word processor for poetry, while Microsoft Word is better suited for prose.
