GIS Monitor Ceases Publication
Adena from the All Points Blog brings us the news that the GIS Monitor ceased publication at the end of 2007. The GIS Monitor, started by Adena Schutzberg herself in 2000, was the first de facto GIS blog, long before the word “blog” entered the mainstream. I wrote a few articles for the GIS Monitor before I followed Adena to Directions Magazine. Adena is now (since 2006) the Executive Editor of Directions Magazine, and also writes the All Points Blog.
The GIS Monitor assures readers that they can continue to access past issues in the archives, without specifying for how long. At the time of this writing, you can still read my article “Building a Brand” here.
[CORRECTIONS] Adena wrote to point out several errors in my post. She started the GIS Monitor with Roopinder Tara, not entirely on her own. She joined Directions Magazine in February 2005 (not 2006). And my GISCI article (linked above) appeared in Earth Observation Magazine (EOM), a different publication, which Adena briefly edited.
I apologize to Adena and to the readers.
