Intel To Skip Vista Upgrade

[UPDATE June 30, 2008] From Wired:

"Microsoft, determined to push its Vista operating system over the objections of significant numbers of PC users, officially pulls the plug on its popular XP OS."

Sponsored by ENTCHEV GIS Architects

The conspiracy theorists will recognize many similarities with The Coca-Cola Company's launch, and swift withdrawal, of the hated New Coke in 1985. From Wikipedia:

"The simplest [conspiracy theory] was that the company had planned all along to reintroduce the old formula as a ploy to reinvigorate interest in the product."

I am pleased to report that ENTCHEV and Intel are on the same page as far as Windows Vista is concerned -- both companies will skip it.

Writes The New York Times:

"Intel, the giant chip maker and longtime partner of Microsoft, has decided against upgrading the computers of its own 80,000 employees to Microsoft’s Vista operating system, a person with direct knowledge of the company’s plans said."

Chimes in The Inquirer:

"ACCORDING TO A memo circulating a few weeks ago, it looks like Intel is taking a wise decision and avoiding the Broken OS entirely. Yes, Intel is not going to use Vista on its corporate machines... ever."

"The Broken OS?" Ouch! Was it the Mac/PC ads (I love these ads) that did it?
