Google Geo Challenge Grants

If you didn't think Google was serious about mapping and GIS, think again. Google just announced the Google Geo Challenge Grants. An excerpt from the announcement:

Sponsored by ENTCHEV GIS Architects

"Well designed maps can help organizations operate more effectively. They can convey the importance of your cause in a visual, compelling way. And, they can give individuals from around the world a chance to experience the work you do. [...] Through these grants, we hope to enable organizations to create maps that will enhance their work and impact."

and

"[...] we'll be offering grants valued between US$5,000 and US$100,000 [...]"
