Cultural and Monetary Barriers to Cloud Computing Adoption
In a comment on an All Points Blog post titled “Is Cloud Computing a Disruptive Technology for Geospatial?”, my hero Archie Belaney nails the issue again, as is his/her/its habit.

“I expect a LOT of geospatial departments are managed by folks who've spent decades working to strengthen their oversight and control of the GIS process, and its results.
Freeing up resources by 'outsourcing' applications to SaaS or a storage-plus-process-specific-applications-via-web is likely to threaten this 'desktop centric' lifestyle.”Read full comment.
